The Moka International Exchange Association, formerly the Moka International Friendship Association, was founded in September 1987 and promotes international exchange activities in Moka. Citizens lead these events in Moka, and are regularly attended by international residents in Moka. The Moka International Exchange Association works to deepen mutual understanding and friendship amongst all residents of Moka. Furthermore, they promote the international and multicultural coexistence of Moka.
Moka has the largest foreign resident population percentage in Tochigi Prefecture, with many residents coming from Brazil and Peru. This has created a vibrant and active South American community in Moka, with Brazilian supermarkets, Peruvian restaurants, and churches across the city. The Moka International Exchange Association hosts events and workshops to help connect International and Japanese residents together in meaningful ways.
